so restaurant week is quickly coming to an end ... so we're tying up loose ends at the locanda del lago ... not necessarily a michelin star restaurant but an honorable mention in the guide, nonetheless ... and the mention was well-deserved ...
appetizers - i ordered the cabbage soup w/ fried brussels sprouts and crouton ... i'm a big fan of cabbage and brussels sprouts, so this was a win win for me ... a very savory soup w/ a quasi-smooth texture ... similar to split pea soup in texture ...
others got the tiger shrimp wrapped in ham on an arugula/orange salad ... huge huge shrimp ... the salad seemed out of place w/ the shallot and orange ...
we were also served a trout pate with our bread ... lemon-y with a mousse-y texture ... accompanying wine was an italian champagne ...
entrees - chicken stuffed w/ mushrooms and wrapped in prosciutto ... accompanied by green beans and potato ... a good combo of chicken and cheese and mushroom with the salty-ness of the wrapped prosciutto ... close up on the right ...
jik and renee got the rack of lamb with mushrooms and cauliflower ... pretty tender ... and well-seasoned ...
gerard was the lone dissenter with the lobster ravioli ... with a tomato cream ... standard italian fare, but nothing to write home about, apparently ...
dessert - frozen hazelnut ice cream cake over caramel and strawberries to top ... love me some hazelnut action ...
jik and jq got the creme brulee which was pretty standard and gerard got the triple chocolate mousse - dark, milk and white chocolate ... the milk and white chocolate layers were forgettable but the dark chocolate went well w/ the berry sauce ... accompanied by a dessert-y italian moscato ... also got the hot booze-y coffee ...
a good outing overall ... the server was pretty knowledge-able but kept trying to upsell us on drinks and desserts ... that's her job, after all ...
