| | dineLA's first week ends at ruth's chris ... a super-duper gathering to celebrate ... um ... celebrate food ... yep, that's it ...
we went to the one in woodland hills last time ... beverly hills was the venue for this go-around ... a better bar scene at beverly hills but i think the dining area at woodland hills is definitely more elegant ...
i guess you can do more w/ more floor space, so you can't fault the place ...
appetizers - gumbo and lobster bisque ... my first try at lobster bisque was pretty crappy, but every other try i've given it has always been a good one ... creamy ... lobster-y ... elaine was the lone soul who got the gumbo ... she's non-conformist that way ...
entree - ribeye w/ creamed spinach or mashed potato ... it may have been peer pressure on my part, but everyone got the ribeye ... ruth's chris had the option to upgrade -- $34 for filet, fish, or chicken or $44 for big filet, new york, ribeye, or filet/shrimp ... quite a choice there ... but since i'm such a fan of juicy steak, i went w/ the ribeye ... singing its praises even before we ordered ... i guess people were in a meat mood that night ... the creamed spinach and mashed potato were both standard ... good taste but nothing crazy-good like bacon- or cheese-laced ...
dessert - bread pudding and cheesecake ... awesome ... a little taste of each was good enough after such a size-able meal ... but the crust on the cheesecake was too hard ... so i ate around it ... and used it as a coaster for my drink ...
all in all, a good meal ... good portions ...
