so dineLA continues w/ a trip to the vermont restaurant on ... vermont ... a little unoriginal naming but that leaves more time to make good food, no? italian leaning menu leads to some pretty good tastes ... maybe my love of italian food might bias this a little bit ...
appetizers - cured meat plate w/ bread and little pickles ... all kinds of pork products ... but my favorite appetizer was the mushroom/leek tart ... basically a little mini pizza to whet the appetite ... entrees were meat-heavy, but when did we ever complain about that? - honey/cocoa marinated pork w/ pureed sweet potato and beet salad for renee ... ivy and i got the beef short rib w/ quinoa and celery root ... celery root? quinoa? basically an upscale version of potato and brown rice ... the beef and pork were both fork-tender and while they weren't as crazy tender as the ox cheek yesterday, they were definitely delicious ...
desserts - panna cotta w/ mixed fruits, ultra-dense chocolate cake (needs some coffee to accompany), and an apple tart ... i was hoping for the praline tort as stated on the online menu, but hey, what can you do?
great quality and portion (the meat was almost fist-sized) makes the vermont the 2nd best restaurant of week 1 ... hope your restaurant week experiences have been as good as ours ...
