kogi bbq strikes again ... it seems the ucla neighborhood is giving our favorite upscale korean bbq roach coach a hard time ... so rather than fight the man, kogi has decided to skip campus in favor of more healthy environments ... like venice ... so we were more than willing to follow ... travelled over to the brig at abbot kinney and palms ... and loaded up on korean bbq tacos and breakfast burritos ... special of the night was the kim chi quesadilla which is definitely a different take on a classic ... it sure did rock my socks ...
so we got tickets to the lakers game against san antonio ... a nationally-televised game was definitely one to catch ... lots of pressure on the lakers to stay number 1 in the west ... so shirley, eddie and eric joined me in cheering the lakers to victory ...
close game at the beginning, but eventually the lakers pulled away and the game quickly turned into a blowout w/ free tacos for the home crowd by holding san antonio to less than 100 points ... lots of good family-friendly basketball action ... minus the almost-fight between a couple of guys arguing over seating ... cooler heads prevailed ...
afterwards, we kicked off restaurant week 2009 w/ an ultra-inexpensive outing to espn zone at LA live ... so-so food, but how can you complain with 3 courses for $16? ... yeah, try it ... appetizers choices included wings, artichoke dip, and quesadilla ... dip was the best bang for the buck followed by quesadilla ... wings were shit ... cold and gross ... entree choices included salad, chicken wrap, and burger ... burger was the winner (but how can they charge $1 extra for cheese when the menu says cheeseburger?), with the wrap (not even a full wrap) and salad both being pretty shitty ... dessert choices included carrot cake, cookie sundae, and brownie ... they were out of brownie and we were too full of appetizer/entree to really compare desserts ... ice cream was good but cookie was overdone ... and carrot cake had more frosting than cake ... some people like it that way ...
one of the cheapest restaurant week participants, but far from the best ...
hoping to roll into restaurant week w/ the bbc on monday ... happy eating everyone ...
